As part of our remit to support the local economy, D2N2 recommends projects for funding via the European Union that meet our strategic objectives.
That funding comes from 5 separate funds that collectively are known as the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).
The purpose of ESIF is to support businesses, communities and individuals across the EU, including Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The current round of ESIF funding covers 2014 to 2020.
D2N2 makes use of three of these main funds in our mission to deliver economic growth: the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF), and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD)
The total D2N2’s ESIF funding allocation for 2014-2020 is £226.1 million for the following programmes:
- Overall ESIF allocation – £226.1m
- ERDF – £113.2m
- ESF – £107.4m
- ERDF – £5.5m
D2N2 uses ESIF to support a variety of projects to improve life chances in our region.

Technical Assistance
The D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership Technical Assistance (TA) website is an information source for partners and organisations with an interest in European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).
The site contains information on how to apply for and successfully run an ESIF-funded project and about projects already being delivered in the D2N2 area.
The aim of the TA website is to encourage potential partners and providers to understand the nature, range, and scope of ESIF opportunities; allowing them to be better informed and to contribute to their delivery as appropriate.
